Create an automation

Choose when an automation runs, add conditions and actions, and save its rule.

Automations

An automation runs a set of actions when its trigger fires. Use it for repeatable work with a clear event, schedule, or manual start.

Before you start

You need the workspace member, admin, or owner role to create an automation. To create it inside a folder, open the folder and use its New resource button; you need Can edit or Full access on that folder. Changing an existing automation’s rule requires Full access on that automation.

Create the automation

  1. In the sidebar, select New resource, the plus beside Workspace.
  2. Choose AI and automation, then Automations. Zanbase creates an untitled automation, switched off, and opens it on Editor.
  3. Select the title and type the automation’s name.

Choose when it runs

  1. Select When to open its settings.
  2. In Trigger source, choose When something happens, On a schedule, or Manually.
  3. For When something happens, choose an Event type.
  4. Use Watch events in to choose a resource or Whole workspace for that event trigger.
  5. For On a schedule, enter a pattern in Cron schedule.

A cron pattern specifies repeating times. For example, 0 9 * * 1 runs every Monday at 9am in the time zone shown below Cron schedule. Manually runs only when you use Run now.

Add conditions and actions

  1. Select If if you want to limit which triggers continue.
  2. Select Add condition.
  3. Use Browse field paths to choose the fact to compare.
  4. Choose an Operator and enter the comparison value.
  5. If you add several conditions, set Match to all or any.
  6. Below Then, select Add step.
  7. Choose Action.
  8. Open the new action card and use Action to choose the operation.
  9. Fill in the fields shown for that action.
  10. Select Save rule.

What happens next

A new automation starts Disabled. Saving its rule does not enable it. Review the trigger and actions, then enable it and inspect a run.

The rule’s If conditions are optional. Add step also offers Condition (if / else) and Loop (for each) for branches and repeated work.
