Connect an AI tool with MCP

Authorize an outside AI application to work in Zanbase and review or revoke its connection.

Integrations and MCP

Model Context Protocol (MCP) lets an outside AI application call Zanbase tools on your behalf. Use Zanbase’s OAuth consent flow to authorize the application, then manage its connection in your settings.

Before you start

You need a Zanbase account with access to the intended workspace and an AI application that supports a remote MCP server with OAuth. The server address is https://data-rest.zanbase.com/api/mcp/WORKSPACE_ID. Replace WORKSPACE_ID with the first part of the path after workspace.zanbase.com/ while you are inside the workspace. Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor each have a page with their own steps.

Authorize the application

  1. Start the Zanbase MCP connection from your AI application using the server address for your workspace.
  2. Complete Zanbase’s Sign in flow if prompted.
  3. Review the application name and requested access on the consent page.
  4. Select Allow to authorize it, or Deny to cancel.
  5. Return to your AI application to use the connection.

On the consent screen, choose under Workspace the workspace whose id is in the server address; Allow stays unavailable until you do, and a different workspace’s authorization is refused at that address. Selecting Allow authorizes the application for that one workspace, within your permissions and that workspace’s sign-in rules. It reaches no other workspace you belong to; to use another workspace, add a second server with that workspace’s id and authorize it there.

Review and revoke access

Connected apps lists the apps you authorized, with each app’s name under App, its workspace under Workspace and your earliest authorization date under Connected. Disconnect removes your authorization for that app in that workspace only; your authorizations in other workspaces and other people’s authorizations remain.

  1. In Zanbase, open Settings.
  2. Select Connected apps.
  3. Find the application under Connected apps.
  4. Review its name under App, its workspace under Workspace, and your earliest authorization date under Connected.
  5. Select Disconnect beside the application.
  6. Confirm with Disconnect.

Good to know

The application acts within your permissions and the workspace’s sign-in rules. Actions that require interactive approval are excluded from the default MCP tools. MCP does not grant the application use of your connected Google or Microsoft accounts.

If the consent link is invalid or expired, start the connection again from the AI application.
